Woman who took down a confederate flag

A woman from Raleigh, NC decided to take down the confederate flag, and she got arrested. She claimed it was hurtful to see the flag above the State Capitol while the victims of the gun shot from a young man inspired by the confederate flag claimed the wage a racial war. The judge ordered   3000 dollars bond, and she got released after thy paid the money.

While the flag is only a symbol, it is people intention and interpretation of its meanings that reveal the moral character of a people. It is a good think that today the legislature and the government official have requested to remove the confederate flag. By doing so, they have confirmed raising the confederate flag was morally wrong because of the intention or the true meaning of its symbolism. While the debate is close to an end, the question I could ask if I was a utilitarian: Is the majority of people happy with the removal of the confederate flag? Who should we call “the majority"? (Only South Carolinians or the humanity)
Personnaly, I think it is out of duty that this decision was made. The legislature and government official found after the incident leading to the death of 9 people they have a moral obligation of removing the confederate flag despite the consequences.
